I opened several sessions of the terminal emulation, how can I identify the sessions in the task bar?

GTW420-Pro automatically assign a letter code to the session name in an ordinal order A,B,C.. this letter can help you distinguish between the sessions.
If you are usually using the same sessions, you can manually assign every session a name of your choice. To asign a name to the session, open the menu
"Settings" | "preferences", in the "User part of session caption" type in the session name. After setting the session name, it is recommended to create this session a shortcut.
To save a shortcut to the session, open the menu "File" | "Save as shortcut", This operation save both session data and a desktop shortcut.

How can I block access to the configuration menus, by the end users in my organization?

GTW420-Pro configuration data is stored in a file with GTW extension. This file is used as a parameter in the GTW420-Pro command line.
The configuration file structured as an INI file, it has a special section called [Master Enables], this section allows you to disable most of the configuration option
of the end user and it will help you keep a low maintenance resources for GTW420-Pro.

Is it possible to hide all interface elements like tool bar, button bar and the program menu?

Yes, you can hide all interface elements. It can be done in two steps, first turn off Button bar, Tool bar, Status indicator and Scroll bar.
To do so, go to the menu "View" and unselect the items you want to hide. Then turn off the program menu, to do so, click the system menu at
the upper left corner of the window and unselect the "Show Menu" option.

I use a notebook computer and I have to use the "VT" numeric key pad, what should I do ?

GTW420-Pro has two floating "virtual keypad" windows, one for the numeric keypad and one for the editing keypad.
It has been specially designed for keyboards without a numeric keypad or without editing keypad.
To activate a "virtual keypad" go to the menu | "View" dialog box and select "Numeric pad" or "Editing pad".

How can I use my barcode printer ?

Barcode printers, specially old ones, might need special setting.
Barcode printers sometime don't have drivers for working under windows NT/XP. If this is the case, GTW420-Pro has a build-in solution.
Go to the menu | "Terminal" | "Printer" dialog box, select "Print Method" as direct, from the "Select Printer" list box select "LPT1".
GTW420-Pro will stream al sub sequent printer data to the LPT port for successful barcode printing.

What can I do with the button bar?

The GTW420-Pro's button bar is a powerful tool. It can be used to dispatch a shortcut for long command or for a frequently used phrase.
The button bar can be used to popup the date selection tool or to execute any other GT script file.
The button bar can be used to send command to set a printer
mode of operation or it can be used to imitate "VT" function keys like the "Do" key.
To set new button's function click with the right mouse button on the button you want to set.

How can I send quotations via e-mail with GTW420-Pro?

You can send as e-mail not only quotation but any of your application's printed output without any application changes. To set GTW420 to send printouts as e-mail messages you should take two steps, set basic e-mail parameters
in the "Settings" | "e-Printing" dialog box, and direct printing to e-mail at the "Terminal" | "printer" dialog box in the printer method selection.
Note! E-Printing is applicable only for slave printer's print jobs.

How do I change a graphic background in GTW420-Pro?

Go to the menu | "settings" | "fancy look" in the "Fancy background" group select the "background graphics" and type in a name of image file.
The file should be a .Bmp format or .Jpg format.
In the GTW420-Pro directory there is a subdirectory with some background graphics for you convenience.

What is SSH?

SSH is a secured, communication protocol. SSH will give your privet data protection against tapping. SSH is an open protocol. GTW420 implements SSH version 2. To activate SSH Communication, select in the menu "Settings" | "Communication" and select the SSH Tab.

How can I change the color of the characters on the screen?

Characters color are set by the color editor, to start the color editor, go to the menu | "Settings" | "Colors". The color editor match colors to the character attribute. Every attribute is matched foreground color and background color.
When no special attribute is set, the "Normal" attribute is used by the GTW420-Pro. The "Normal" attributes background color is used as the screen background.
It is recommended to set "Normal" attribute first, and only then set the other if necessary.
IMPORTANT NOTE - when graphic screen background is implemented (default) setting of "Normal" background color will not have any effect, the foreground color will take effect even in graphic background mode.

Yes, GTW420-Pro have special tool for line and column validation. The tool is a crosshair cursor, that you can assign to the mouse right button.
To assign the crosshair cursor to the right mouse button, go to the menu | "Settings" | "Copy/Paste" dialog box, on the "Right click action" group select "Draw CrossHair"
option and click OK button. Now you can click the right mouse button while moving the mouse to validate column and row of data items.

What is "Copy to register" option?

The "copy to register" option is part of enhanced clipboard application. Along
the system clipboard, GTW420-Pro implements 5 sets of "clipboards" or "Registers", named Reg1..Reg5.
Using the "Registers" you can copy 6 items at a time and paste them any time in any order. The content of the "Registers" is available to other active session of the GTW420-Pro and it is erased when the last GTW420-Pro session is closed. To use the Registers, go to the menu | "Edit" sub menu.
